Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly after, she left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank to date. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The biggest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job during Corcoran's childhood. Her family was sometimes dependent on food delivered by an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran recalls her father being an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, particularly after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. She attended the local Catholic elementary school before beginning high school at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing several courses in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
